$100 Cheap Fishing Rod and Reel Combo for 2019
$100. Is it enough for a quality fishing rod and reel combo? Most certainly. Heres my $100 cheap fishing reel and rod combo for 2019!
The Nifty $50 Spinning Reel
Coming in under, or right at, $50; this spinning reel is worth giving a shot.
Things that sold me on this affordable 3000 spinning reel:
- $50 Price Tag – Definitely the first thing you look at. Seeing good reviews and a price like that, made me want to try it.
- 10 + 1 Bearings – It was difficult finding reels with this many bearings at this price point. And they’re stainless.
- 6.2:1 Gear Ratio – I’m used to fishing a 6.2:1 and it’s hard to find that in reels that are in this price range.
- Max Drag of 22 lbs – That is A LOT of drag for this 3000 reel.
- 9.5 oz – The lighter the reel is, the less stress on you, and the more casts you can get in.
- 35lb/190yds – Line capacity, you can fit 190 yards of 35lb braided line on this spool or 180 yards of 10lb mono
- 1 Year Warranty
Pretty good specs for a $50 spinning reel for 2019. Let’s move onto the fishing rod!
The QUALITY Fishing Rod
Coming in at $60; I would pair this spinning rod with any reel you gave me whether it was a $50 reel or a $250 reel.
- $60 – Price to Value = Well worth it
- 7′ 6″ – The perfect length. 8′ seems to hit every doorway and 7′ seems too short for me
- Medium Action – Normally I go for a Medium/Heavy but I wanted to give a medium action a try
- Hook Keeper – Allows you to store your weedless rig on the rod without having to unhook your bait
- 6 oz – Less than 6 oz of weight to it. This spinning rod feels SUPER light
- 1 Piece – I like one piece rods more than two piece rods
For $60 this saltwater or freshwater fishing rod is well worth it. If you wanted to bump your price point up to $75 you can get this rod with a lifetime warranty. The specs are pretty similar, but the only difference is that the more expensive rod has a rubber butt and the hook keeper is different. Other than that, same manufacturer, almost the same rod, just $15 more for a lifetime warranty. So it’s up to you if you want the $60 rod or the $75 rod. I use and support both.
2019 Fishing Rod & Reel Combo
So this $50 spinning reel combined with this $60 spinning rod (or $75 for lifetime warranty rod) is a solid deal and will fit any saltwater fishing or freshwater fishing needs you may have.
A great, cheap rod and reel combo that will catch over-slot redfish and snook, along with PB largemouth bass, without breaking the bank.
